The UCD Wrestling Club was founded in 2002 and we are the first University Amateur Wrestling Club in Ireland. We are affiliated with the Irish Amateur Wrestling Association and our aim is to promote and develop the sport in Dublin and throughout Ireland.
We train in Freestyle wrestling which is used in the Olympics. The emphasis in Freestyle is on attack and exposure. Matches are won either by pinning an opponent’s shoulders to the mat for a split second or by accumulating the greater number of points during the match.
Amateur wrestling is unexcelled as a means of acquiring physical efficiency, coordination, poise, and effective use of the body. Wrestling helps to develop four important assets that are paramount to success in sport: individual initiative, mental alertness, body control under difficult conditions and courage to carry on.
We train twice a week in Hall C in the UCD Sports Centre, Wednesdays 9-10pm and Fridays 5-7pm.

Hi Esme,
We don’t have a juniors section I’m afraid, but Hercules in Dublin city trains younger people.
The website is http://www.herculesclub.ie and you can contact Mick McAuley at mcauley@indigo.ie regarding training.
